TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Please read Jeremiah 51:15-19
“It is He who made the earth by His power, who established the world by His wisdom, and by His understanding stretched out the heavens. When He utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and He makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and He brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

DEVOTIONAL
by Sandra Chua
I love making things. I would try out different ideas on Pinterest: bags, face masks, soap, hair tamer, ant killer, table wipes, cards, diaries, card tags, self-watering pots, origami, paper flowers, chocolate flowers, etc. The list goes on and on. I would design and buy the materials needed. There are times when my project comes out so well that it makes me really happy. There are times they flop, and I just have to throw them out.
Today’s reading shows us the ultimate Craftsman, the Creator of all things at work and in command. It never fails to amaze me whenever I read about how God stretched the heavens. What kind of wisdom does God have to suspend the planets in the universe with just the right force such that the earth does not totter? I am stricken with awe to know His voice causes a tumult of waters in the heavens. He takes care of the land, making mist rise from the ends of the earth. He appoints lightning for the rain, and He controls the wind as if they were bottles in storehouses, ready to be released as He pleases.
Every man is stupid compared to God’s wisdom. Everything that we make into god is useless compared to Him. Our accomplishments, our fame, and our wealth, when made into gods, are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment, they shall perish. Not like these things are our gods. God is the one who formed all things. He is worthy of all honor and praise because He is eternal. His power and wisdom are beyond ours. Best of all, the God who controls everything and perceives even our innermost thoughts loves and cares for us! What an awesome God we have!
REFLECTION
How does knowing God created all things and has the power over all creation affect the way I think and live my life? How do the things I value in this life, the things that occupy my thoughts and take up my time and energy, compare to the worth of knowing my God?
PRAYER
Bless the Lord, oh my soul. Oh Lord my God, You are very great! Stretching out the heavens like a tent curtain. You set the beams of Your upper chambers in the waters. You make the clouds, Your chariots. You walk upon the wings of the wind. You make winds, Your messengers, flaming fire Your ministers. There is no one like You. You are worthy of all praise! There is no God besides You. Forbid that I will not turn Your blessings or anything You have made or anything I think I have accomplished to take Your place. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
