TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Please Read Acts 20:1–12
On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. There were many lamps in the upstairs room where we were meeting. Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!” Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.

DEVOTIONAL
by Elder Chris Beltran
A young man named Eutychus was seated by the window, slowly sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked and talked. Suddenly, he fell to the ground from the third floor and was picked up dead. Paul then rushed down, put his arms around him, and declared in verse 10, “Don’t be alarmed, he is alive.” And he was!
After the incident, Paul kept talking until daylight, and he left—imagine 8 to 10 hours of straight sermon! Such was the passion of the apostle Paul and the hunger for God’s word of the believers.
If we evaluate ourselves, we can also discover some of “Eutychus” in us. We get bored easily and often grumble and complain about the service. We come in late, and we get sleepy because we spend our Saturday night awake until Sunday morning. This leads us not to participate in the singing and worship of the Lord, and we hurry for the benediction. This is more of a heart issue than an external issue. A heart that is always pumping for the Lord will hunger for His word and desire to fellowship with fellow believers.
Let’s always seek to have a healthy appetite for God’s word!

Heal the weary and empower us for Your mission. Thank You for the lessons from this devotion. In Jesus’ name, amen.
