TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

Please Read Acts 24:22–27

Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.” At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.

DEVOTIONAL

by Elder Chris Beltran

Knowing the truth about the consequences and dangers of addiction to alcohol, drugs, pornography, sex, and excessive social media is good. But if you still indulge in those practices, then knowing the truth is not enough because it does not change your attitude, behavior, and actions. Only the truth applied can transform and change us.

Truth is never relative. Truth is exclusive and absolute by nature. If you have a kettle of boiling water, the water is hot. Boiling water cannot be both hot or cold, even if you sincerely believe it can be. It will be to your detriment if you try to put your hand inside the kettle of boiling water. Truth cannot be both that Jesus is the only way to God, and there are other ways to God even if you sincerely believe it.

Knowing who Jesus is, even memorizing Bible verses, and quoting different books from the Bible is great. However, if your motive is just for knowledge, then it does us no good. James 1:22, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” The application of truth is the key to change. And that is the truth and nothing but the truth.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we see Paul’s boldness in sharing faith. Guide us to speak about righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment. Help us proclaim Your loving truth confidently. Teach us to communicate the gospel effectively, reflecting transformation through Christ. Open doors for us to testify of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
