TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

Please read Ephesians 1

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

DEVOTIONAL

by Rev. Dr. Nehemiah Sia

The Anchor of our souls is our LORD Jesus Christ because when we rely on Him, we have security through life’s storms. With Christ in my vessel, I can endure, persevere, and overcome my insecurity. We need to depend on the Lord each day and night. When we know that we are in the sovereign hand of the Lord, we are confident that every spiritual blessing is upon us. We are eternally secured because He has chosen us out of darkness into His marvelous light. We enter the realm of His Agape Love and journey together towards eternity. Yes, our life here on earth is short, but the purpose and meaning of eternal heavenly life is perfect as it is filled with joy, love, peace, and hope. May the Lord guide us and grant us the grace to face today with the courage to do what is right.

When life seems unbearable and we face all kinds of challenges, there is hope that doesn’t disappoint. This anchor of hope in Christ gives us assurance; this assurance the world cannot give because it doesn’t know the Gospel. What is the Gospel? It is the power of God at work to save a person from their sins because of the finished work of Christ on the cross, and this is through faith and by God’s grace. We can’t save ourselves simply because we are sinners and we are a mess. But God saves us according to His mercy; therefore, we HOPE AGAIN. He turns our mess into a message of unshakeable and living hope in Him. He turns our tests into testimonies of His empowering grace with a true commitment to Him alone. This true commitment is the anchor of our souls. So, where do we put our trust in troubling times? As Max Lucado would put it, “We are building our lives on the promises of God. Because His Word is unbreakable, our hope is unshakable. We do not stand on the problems of life or the pain in life. We stand on the great and precious promises of God.”

PRAYER

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the anchor of our souls! In life’s storms, we can be secured in Your love and truth. Help us to live our lives with the hope that things are temporary and that You are God, eternal, immovable, and unshakeable! Lord, at times, we feel we are a mess; please change our mess into something beautiful in Your time. Cleanse us of all our sins, and we believe in Your finished work on the cross! Thank You, Lord, for dying on the cross for our sins, and on the third day, You rose from the grave. Now we are free indeed as we repent from our sins and receive Your forgiveness. May we persevere, endure, and overcome our trials and tests. In Your Name, we pray, Amen.
