TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Luke 21:1–4
DEVOTIONAL
by Stephanie Reloj
During the challenging times of lockdown, when many faced financial hardship and loss, there emerged stories of remarkable generosity and compassion. Despite their own struggles, individuals stepped forward to offer what little they had to help others in need. Whether it was sharing a canned good or a kilo of fruits and vegetables, these acts of kindness were a testament to the unwavering faith and sacrificial giving displayed by the widow in the Bible. In the midst of adversity, their actions embodied the spirit of genuine faith and trust in God’s provision, inspiring hope, and solidarity within their communities.
In connection to that, Jesus draws attention to a widow’s offering of two small copper coins—a seemingly insignificant gift in the eyes of others, yet deeply meaningful in the sight of God. Despite her poverty, the widow’s sacrificial giving reveals her great faith and trust in God’s provision.
The widow’s example challenges us to reevaluate our understanding of generosity and faith in a world that often measures worth by material wealth and outward appearances. While others may boast of their abundance, the widow demonstrates that true faith is not measured by the size of our offerings but by the depth of our trust in God.

REFLECTION
As we reflect on the example of the widow, let us be inspired to live lives of radical faith and sacrificial generosity. May we trust in God’s provision and sufficiency, offering our resources and ourselves wholeheartedly to His service. And may our lives be a testimony to the transforming power of faith in the God who provides abundantly beyond all that we could ask or imagine.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of the widow, whose sacrificial offering revealed her deep trust in Your provision. Teach us to trust You wholeheartedly, even when our circumstances seem overwhelming. Help us to step out in faith, offering ourselves and our resources for Your Kingdom’s purposes. May our lives be a testimony to Your faithfulness and sufficiency as we seek to honor You in all that we do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
