TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
1 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” 4 “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

DEVOTIONAL
by Stephanie Reloj
Have you ever prayed for something so much and asked God when He will answer your prayer? I did so many times. But looking back, God already answered many prayers without me really noticing. At the end of the day, I just have to trust in His sovereignty. Praise God!
In John 2, we witness a remarkable display of trust and faith in Jesus, exemplified by Mary, His mother. When the hosts ran out of wine at a Cana wedding, Mary turned to her son for help. Despite Jesus initially expressing hesitation, Mary remained persistent and confident in His ability to intervene.
Mary’s actions teach us valuable lessons about trust and faith in Jesus. Firstly, Mary’s faith was marked by humility and reliance on Jesus’ wisdom and power. She didn’t dictate or demand a specific solution but simply entrusted the problem to Him, knowing that He could provide a solution beyond her expectations.
Secondly, Mary’s persistence in prayer demonstrates the importance of continuing to seek God’s intervention, even when faced with obstacles or delays. Despite Jesus’ initial objection, Mary didn’t waver in her trust but directed the servants to obey Jesus’ instructions, confident that He would act in His own time and way. In a similar manner, God honors our faith and persistent prayers. Just as Jesus honored His mother’s request and performed a miracle at the wedding in Cana, He invites us to bring our needs and concerns to Him in faith, trusting that He is able to provide and intervene according to His perfect will.
REFLECTION
How can we show trust and persistence in our own lives? In what areas of your life do you need to entrust your concerns to Jesus and persist in prayer, confident in His ability to provide and intervene?
