TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

DEVOTIONAL
by Stephanie Reloj
When someone undermines your work, the natural reaction might be anger, resentment, and a desire for retribution. Yet, imagine responding with forgiveness instead. This doesn’t mean ignoring the wrong or failing to address it, but choosing to release the hold of bitterness over your heart.
How often do we find ourselves in need of forgiveness but feeling unworthy to ask for it? When others wrong us, do we respond with the same compassion and readiness to forgive as Jesus did? Can we imagine the peace and transformation that forgiveness can bring into our lives and the lives of others?
Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is powerful. Jesus’ example on the cross teaches us that forgiveness is not just for the person being forgiven but also for the one who forgives. It frees our hearts from the chains of anger and resentment. When we forgive, we reflect Christ’s love and mercy in our lives, becoming conduits of His grace to others.
Jesus told Peter to forgive “not seven times, but seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21–22), highlighting that forgiveness should be limitless. In the same way, Jesus forgave His executioners, showing that even in our deepest pain, forgiveness is possible.
REFLECTION
When we forgive, we make room for God’s peace and grace to flow through us. It doesn’t mean that the pain instantly disappears or that trust is immediately restored, but it is a step toward healing and reconciliation. Choosing to forgive, even when it feels unjustified, can heal relationships and restore harmony. Are we willing to take on that journey?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible example of forgiveness that Jesus displayed on the cross. Please help us to embrace this same spirit of forgiveness in our own lives. When we are wronged, give us the strength to forgive, just as You have forgiven us. Soften our hearts to show compassion and mercy, even when it is difficult. May we be instruments of Your peace, reflecting Your boundless grace to those around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
