TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Please read Matthew 28:1–10
Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”
Matthew 28:5–7
DEVOTIONAL
by Stephanie Reloj
Despite the Pharisees’ attempts to seal the tomb and station guards, nothing could hinder Jesus’ triumph over death. The earth shook as an angel, radiant as lightning, rolled away the stone from the tomb (Matthew 28:2). Imagine the astonishment of the guards as they witnessed this glorious moment—death itself was defeated! The angel’s message to the women confirmed the miraculous truth: Jesus had risen from the dead, just as He said.
As believers, we can have confidence in the reality of Jesus’ resurrection, knowing that He has conquered sin and death once and for all. This assurance gives us hope and strengthens our faith amid trials and uncertainties.
Then, just as the women were commissioned to “go and tell” the disciples of Jesus’ resurrection, we, too, are called to proclaim this life-changing truth to the world. The power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us today, enabling us to share the gospel with others boldly.
We are called to be witnesses of the gospel in our own lives. We are tasked with sharing the good news of Jesus’ victory over death with others, inviting them to experience the transformative power of His resurrection.
REFLECTION
Can we comprehend the awe-inspiring power that raised Jesus from the dead, rendering even the mightiest of armies powerless? Let us remember the futility of human efforts to thwart God’s plans. No obstacle, no matter how daunting, can hinder the fulfillment of His purposes. As we trust in the power of the resurrection, may we live with confidence, knowing that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, empower us to boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus’ resurrection to all people, just as the women were commissioned to do. May we respond with unwavering faith and worship when we encounter Jesus in our lives. Strengthen us to live with confidence in the power of the resurrection, knowing that You are with us always. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
