TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Please read Romans 6:5, Romans 8:11, Colossians 3:1
So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back.
1 Corinthians 15:21-23
DEVOTIONAL

John Newton, the author of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” experienced the transformative power of being raised with Christ. Once a slave trader, Newton encountered Christ and his life was radically changed. He became a fervent Christian, renounced his former ways, and eventually became a leading abolitionist and pastor. Newton’s life exemplifies the truth that in Christ, we can rise from the depths of sin to live a life of righteousness and purpose.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ holds deep significance for believers. As Scripture teaches, we are “in Christ,” meaning that Jesus is our representative. Just as in Adam we all sinned, in Christ we all rise to new life. Through faith, we become partakers of His righteousness and blessings. The resurrection not only assures us of eternal life but also empowers us to live transformed lives here and now.
With this, we should embrace our new identity. Understand that being “in Christ” means you have a new identity. You are no longer defined by your past sins but by Christ’s righteousness. This truth should shape how you view yourself and your purpose in life.
Then, we should live empowered by the Spirit. Romans 8:11 reminds us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us. This means we have the power to overcome sin and live victorious lives. Lean into this power daily through prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Lastly, focus on eternal realities. Colossians 3:1 encourages us to seek the things that are above. This involves setting our minds on heavenly things, prioritizing our relationship with God, and living in a way that reflects our eternal hope.
Being raised with Christ means living a life transformed by His resurrection power. As believers, we share in His victory over sin and death, and we are called to live out this reality each day. Let us embrace our new identity, live empowered by the Holy Spirit, and focus on eternal realities.
REFLECTION
How does knowing that we are “in Christ” change our perspective on daily challenges and struggles? How can we practically seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help us to fully grasp our new identity in Him and to live empowered by Your Spirit. Guide us to seek the things that are above and to reflect the hope of the resurrection in our daily lives. May we be transformed by Your grace and walk in the newness of life You have given us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
