TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

Philippians 4:6–7

DEVOTIONAL

by Marian L. Ang

Anxiety attacks come in different forms. God never promised us a storm-free life, but He promised to stormproof our lives with His presence, promises, protection, and provisions. When the disciples were in the Sea of Galilee, Jesus Himself was present in the boat with them, sleeping peacefully amidst the storm. When the fearful disciples woke Him up, He rebuked the wind and the rain, and the storm calmed. His promise of peace is certain, sufficient, and constant. He will calm the storms in our hearts and our minds if we call on Him.

In Philippians 4:7, we read that the Lord Jesus Christ is the source from whom God’s peace flows into our souls. Jesus is the most precious possession of the Christian. There is no peace for anyone who does not possess Christ and who is not resting on the finished work of Christ for salvation. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Christ and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, thereby making peace through His blood, shed on the cross (read Colossians 1:19–20).

Philippians 4:6–7 prescribed prayer as the cure to anxiety. We have a 24/7 online and direct line to Jesus. A grateful heart, remembering all the blessings He has bestowed on us and casting all our worries before Him, guarantees the peace that transcends all understanding.s. It delights Him to listen to our 24/7 prayers whispered without hesitation nor reservation.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, in the midst of life’s storms and anxieties, we find peace in the presence of Jesus. We thank You for the promise of His constant and sufficient peace, which calms the storms in our hearts and minds. As we cast our worries before Him and approach Him with gratitude, may we experience the peace that transcends all understanding. In Jesus’ name, amen.
