TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Please read Luke 18:19–25
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 6:5
DEVOTIONAL
by Elder Chris Beltran
The word might or strength in Hebrew literally means much-ness. Love God with all your much-ness! It means your character, possessions, resources, gifts, talents, and time—all that God has given you.
Many do not serve with all their strength in their service to the Lord today. Often we take the easiest tasks, in our most convenient time, with just a portion of our strength. Some people who served for a year in some ministry ask for rest the following year. In our workplace or classes, can we just work for a year and ask for a vacation to rest for the next year? Then, why do it with God’s work? You can know a tree by its fruits. If we think and serve like that, it is evident that our heart, soul, mind, and strength are not a hundred percent with the Lord.
What are you doing with all of your strength? Is it in the pursuit of worldly possessions and knowledge alone? The way you use your much-ness is a reflection of how much you love. What proportion of your much-ness would be a suitable expression of your love for Christ?
Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be” (Matthew 6:21). Considering all that God has given you, not just material blessings, but the blessings of eternal life with Him, how can you love Him more?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the many blessings You’ve given us. Help us serve You with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. May our “much-ness” reflect our love for Christ, and may our hearts treasure the eternal life You offer. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
