TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
Proverbs 27:1
DEVOTIONAL
by Elder Chris Beltran
Why do we give flowers when people can no longer appreciate them? Why do we express loving words when they can no longer hear them? We rarely do these things when people are still living.
If someone means something special to us, don’t save it for the funeral. Tell it to them now. Show it to them directly. Give them the things and food they like (with wisdom) presently. And as Proverbs says, “do not boast about tomorrow” (Proverbs 27:1). Do not delay or procrastinate the things you should be doing and saying for tomorrow because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. Take out the beautiful things you stored, enjoy and use them for the people you love and care about. Live your life to the fullest. Use material things to bless others.
However, live our lives not recklessly but in celebration of life, which is a gift from the Lord. Yesterday has gone, tomorrow is uncertain, but today is a gift from the Lord; that is why it is called a present. Store your treasures in heaven as those in Christ will spend eternity with Him. Live your life to the fullest for God’s glory so that one day, when we look back, we will not be filled with regrets. Instead, our hearts will be filled with joy. Share the good news with as many people as you can.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help us live in the present, to express our love and appreciation today, not waiting for a distant future that may never come. Teach us to cherish each day and to use our blessings to bless others. May we celebrate life responsibly and with gratitude, recognizing that each day is a gift from You. Let us store our treasures in heaven and live our lives for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
