TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Hebrews 13:4
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.
1 Corinthians 6:9
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:28
DEVOTIONAL
by Elder Chris Beltran
Sex today is presented as a fulfillment of an animalistic lust inside every person. It is rarely presented as a sacred bond of a union inside the institution of marriage. As parents and even as group leaders of young people, we have to continually remind the next generation that sex is a beautiful creation of God. It should remain beautiful as long as it is kept within the bounds of marriage. It enhances the relationship between husband and wife since it is within God’s design for all to follow.
Let us be clear: Sex is not an activity you should do when you are out of town without your wife or husband. It is not visiting pornographic sites through the convenience of the internet. It shouldn’t be used to manipulate people. Sex is the expression of great intimacy with the one God has given you inside the bounds of marriage.
Do not mess up or complicate your life by having extramarital affairs. Remember, the devil is like a roaring lion ready to devour if you are not alert to his schemes. The real safe sex is not in the things being promoted by the DOH or your friend’s advice but the truth in the Word of God. And a wedding ring is the perfect reminder of the vows and commitment made between you and your partner until death do you part.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we seek Your guidance. Help us, as parents and leaders, to convey the sanctity of sex within marriage, a sacred bond created by You. Guard us against temptation and the devil’s schemes. May we do things that glorify You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
