TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23:1–4, 6

DEVOTIONAL

by Nathan Sia

When we first got our dog, I was very excited because it had been a long time since we had one. She was a beagle, whom we named Beauty. At first, she didn’t trust us that much because we were still unfamiliar with her. As we started to take care of and love her, she began to trust us more.

Taking care of Beauty wasn’t easy. Although having a pet is a lot of fun, there are also some challenges. Taking care of my dog made me realize that even though she can be playful and disobedient, I still love her and will always take care of her.

Likewise, even though we are sinful and do many wrong things, God still loves us and takes care of us. As it says in the Bible verse, He is our shepherd, and in Him, we lack nothing.

God takes care of us even after we sin repeatedly. He will discipline us out of love, but He does this for our good and not to put us in harm’s way. However, we should still repent because it’s our way of saying we’re sorry for what we have done. Was there a time when God disciplined you? How did you react to this?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we are reminded of Your unwavering love and care for us as our shepherd. You provide for our every need. Even when we falter and require discipline, Your love remains constant, and Your correction is for our benefit. When You discipline us, may we respond with a heart of repentance. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
