TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
Please Read Ephesians 4
So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:17-24
DEVOTIONAL
by Rev. Dr. Nehemiah Sia
When we walk in a manner worthy of our calling, we live out the Gospel by being peaceable, kind, humble, gentle, patient, and loving toward each other. We speak the truth with compassion and do not put down others but lift others up in harmony and unity with our many gifts and talents, encouraging each other to grow in the Lord. May we be part of a loving and truth-telling church!
It also reminds us as Christians that we are to live holy lives and live in the newness of life. Many Christians still have old habits, old words, and old actions; we need to change these old ways of doing things and make these new in Christ by renewing our minds toward true transformation and commitment. We cannot assume that we know everything; in fact, we don’t know anything because God knows we are limited, and His grace brings us to salvation and the knowledge of Him. Are you saved? Do you really know the Lord? 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the old has gone, and the new has come!”
Each day can be filled with the mercies of God, and in the dawn of what is new every morning, great is His faithfulness! When we love each other, it simply means not thinking of ourselves highly because we want to serve others and lift others up instead of pulling others down. Who can you encourage today with your sacrifice and service unto the Lord? It is time to let go of your selfish desires and give to the Lord by blessing others.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, King of all kings and Lord of all lords thank You for Your mercies, which are new every morning. Each day, may we be vessels of honor and holiness, living to the fullest and filled with the knowledge of You. May we be compassionate and abounding in love, just like You, Lord. Help us to reflect You in our character. Please guide us through our lives, and may we be worthy of our calling. In Your name, we pray, Amen.
