TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

Please read Matthew 6:25-34

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

DEVOTIONAL

by Stephanie Reloj

I admit that sometimes I worry, so I ask God, “Lord, can you comfort me today? I am worrying about such and such. Can you please assure me and let me feel that You are in control?” There were multiple times that God immediately answered my prayer on the same day or the next. After receiving His answer, I will pray again and say, “Lord, thank You. You reminded me that I can trust You despite my worries and unfaithfulness. Indeed, You have Your great ways. May this deepen my faith in You.” I find it humorous that God answers my prayer. I can say that I am like a child who’s asking for her father’s attention, but in reality, my faith is wavering in those moments.

In Matthew 6, Jesus offers comforting words to those who are prone to worry and anxiety. He reminds us of the loving care of our Heavenly Father, who provides for our every need with tender concern and unwavering faithfulness.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of worrying about our daily needs—food, clothing, shelter, and more. We may feel the pressure to strive and toil, believing that our well-being depends solely on our own efforts. Yet Jesus invites us to shift our perspective and recognize the reality of God’s providential care over every aspect of our lives.

Our Heavenly Father knows our needs even before we ask, and He is more than able to meet them. Just as He provides for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, he will also provide for His beloved children.

REFLECTION

When we worry, we actually demonstrate a lack of trust in God’s goodness and provision. So, take a moment to reflect on the areas of your life where you tend to worry the most. Are you trusting in your own abilities to provide, or are you placing your trust in God’s faithful provision? Surrender your worries to Him today, trusting that He knows your needs and will take care of you.

PRAYER

Gracious Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and care for us. Forgive us for the times when we have allowed worry and anxiety to overshadow our trust in Your provision. Help us rest in the assurance of Your faithful care, knowing that You control every detail of our lives. May we live each day in faith, confident in Your loving provision. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
