TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE

Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

John 12:37–38

DEVOTIONAL

by Stephanie Reloj

Imagine facing a situation where everything seems uncertain, and doubts begin to cloud your mind. Have you ever found yourself questioning God’s plans or struggling to trust in His promises? When trials and challenges arise, do you find it difficult to maintain unwavering faith?

Despite all Jesus did, many still struggled to accept Him as the Messiah. It’s easy to understand people’s skepticism. The idea of a suffering Messiah contradicted their expectations of a triumphant earthly king. Even when Jesus foretold His crucifixion, they struggled to grasp the concept. Their hearts were hardened, unable to see beyond their preconceived notions of Messiahship.

Yet, Jesus knew the challenges His followers would face. He understood that His arrest would scatter His disciples and that the same crowds who hailed Him would turn against Him. Despite this, Jesus remained steadfast in His mission, knowing that His ultimate victory would come through the cross.

Like those in Jesus’ time, we, too, may struggle with doubt and disbelief. We may question God’s plans when they don’t align with our expectations or understanding. Yet, even in our doubts, Jesus calls us to trust Him and believe in His promises.

REFLECTION

As we reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross, let us confront our own doubts and uncertainties. Let us surrender our preconceptions and open our hearts to the truth of who Jesus is—the Son of God who came to save us from sin and death. May we, like Jesus, remain steadfast in our faith, even in the face of disbelief and opposition. And may our belief in Him deepen as we journey with Him to the cross, trusting in His unfailing love and unwavering faithfulness.

PRAYER

Lord, we confess our doubts and struggles to believe. Help us to trust in Your plans, even when they seem confusing or challenging in our finite minds. Strengthen our faith so that we may follow You wholeheartedly, even when others turn away. May Your love and grace sustain us as we walk with You, trusting in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
